Messages
Messages fall into different categories, including:
- Information—Details about the record.
- Success—An action is complete.
- Warning—A record field needs attention. The record can still be saved but may contain incorrect information.
- Error—An action is unavailable or invalid. The record cannot be saved.
Messages can appear in a popup window or in a banner on your screen. Messages that appear in a popup window automatically dismiss after three seconds. Messages that appear in a banner display until you review and dismiss them.
Banners include the message and a More button. Select the More button to view and dismiss any additional messages.
Field errors and highlighted fields
Field errors are messages that display below a field that contains an error, in addition to the banner at the top of the application. Errors include enforced invalid field values and empty required fields. You cannot save records that contain field errors.
Some applications highlight the field associated with the message, rather than showing a message below the field. If there are multiple messages, all fields associated with the messages are highlighted. The color of the highlight matches the color of message. For example, error messages are always shown in a red banner, so the field associated with the error would also be highlighted red. You can select the message banner to focus on the highlighted field. If the field is not currently visible, the screen will navigate you to the appropriate location and focus on the field.
